Call for Abstracts: Academic Writing Workshop for Emerging Female Scholars

We invite emerging female scholars (less than 3 publications) to submit abstracts on a topic of their interest and choosing within the fields of missiology, theology, and biblical studies.

Abstracts from outside of these fields are still welcome provided they approach the topic from a theological angle. We also welcome projects to re-write already finished Master’s thesis/PhD dissertations for publication.

We aim to assist emerging female scholars in publishing. Once an abstract has been accepted, a supervisor will be assigned to support the scholar in getting the paper into a publishable state. An in-person academic writing workshop is scheduled for the last week of July 2025 in Kenya. Once an abstract has been accepted, the cost of the workshop participation will be covered by ACTEA.

50% of the paper should have been written before the in-person workshop. Papers should then be ready for distribution by the end of 2025. We will assist in finding journals for publication.

• Length of Abstract: 300 words. Please use the abstract template to submit your abstract
• Submission deadline: 15 October 2024
• Notification period: 15 November 2024
• Length of final paper: 6000 words excluding bibliography and footnotes
• In-Person Workshop: 28 July – 1 August 2025
