Bridging Borders: ACTEA’s Lusophone Milestone in Theological Education

This month marked a significant milestone as ACTEA hosted the Lusophone Theological Institutions Quality Assurance Workshop in Lubango, Angola from May 13-15 2025. Facilitated by our Executive Director, Rev. Dr. David Tarus, alongside Dr. Steve Hardy and Dr. Dwight Singer, the workshop brought together theological leaders from Portuguese-speaking institutions for deep engagement on quality assurance, contextualised theological education, and academic excellence.

This landmark event signifies ACTEA’s meaningful entry into Lusophone Africa and affirms our commitment to serving the full breadth of the continent’s linguistic and cultural diversity. Participants explored ACTEA’s Accreditation Framework and standards while engaging in dynamic conversations around institutional health, accreditation readiness, and strategic partnerships. They also discussed micro-credentials and modular programs in theological education, including non-formal and online delivery formats.

The workshop provided a valuable platform for mutual learning, collaboration, and envisioning future partnerships across national and regional contexts. It underscores ACTEA’s mission to strengthen holistic, Christ-centered theological education through accreditation, research, and capacity building.

Together, we are shaping a more connected, contextual, and transformative theological landscape across Africa: one institution, one language, and one region at a time!
